Youth Challenge International-Tanzania is a Canadian-based, Tanzanian-registered NGO (registration # 00NGO/0062) that has been working with youth in Tanzania since 2004. In partnership with local non-governmental organizations, YCI-T has worked to develop youth-specific programming related to HIV/AIDS, gender, and leadership and life skills within urban and rural communities throughout Tanzania. The bulk of YCI-T programming is made possible through the regular work of Canadian youth who volunteer with YCI-T and its partners for 6 to 8 week sessions throughout the year.
Currently funded under the Canadian International Development Agency’s (CIDA) Global Youth Leadership Program (GYLP), YCI-T aims to collectively engage Canadian and Tanzanian youth in the development process in order to promote positive behavioural and sustainable social change. In accordance with CIDA priorities, YCI-T programming is currently focusing on the following areas:
•Youth Employment
•HIV/AIDS & Sexual and Reproductive Health
•Active Citizenship
•Gender Equality
•Canadian Youth Engagement
YCI-T is presently working with local partner NGO’s in Zanzibar and Morogoro. For more information about our partners and the projects in each community please refer to the relevant sections of this site.
